100% female team from Azul Linhas Aéreas performs engine removal

Blue Airlines

A complex activity and extremely important for the maintenance of an aircraft, removing the engine for overhaul requires technical skills, a lot of concentration and, above all, the coordination of collective work. Last week, in an unprecedented moment in the history of Azul Linhas Aéreas, a maintenance team made up 100% of women removed the engine from an Embraer E2 aircraft in the Company's hangar, located in Campinas (SP).

“It is always a pleasure to be able to witness and provide moments like this in the development of women in aviation. And Azul has been doing this in different areas of the company”, explains the Technical Vice President at Azul Linhas Aéreas, Antonio Flavio Costa.

The unprecedented action had the participation of a team of Crew members made up of Denise Cenach, Edna de Oliveira, Geovanna Procópio, Jessica Santos Gomes, Joyce Lira and Patricia Saletti.

He explains that this is a routine, expected and scheduled maintenance process, but that it can take up to more than a day to complete. This is due to the complexity of handling tooling and parts of different materials, sizes and combinations. The same team is working on installing an engine for an Airbus A320, under the supervision of two experienced technicians.
