In addition to ensuring the safe air transport of people and cargo, the team at Navegantes International Airport (NVT) has been committed to an important waste recycling project, contributing to the preservation of the environment and the sustainable development of the region.

With an average of seven tons of waste collected monthly from various sources, including the Passenger Terminal and aircraft, CCR Aeroportos, the company that has managed the aerodrome since March 2022, implemented an efficient segregation system at the waste center, aiming to appropriate disposal of this material.

Edson Ronei Henrique, SGI analyst at CCR Aeroportos, highlights that, in addition to environmental preservation aspects, the project is important for the surrounding community. “The selective collection of this material ends up generating income for the families that are part of the recycling cooperative with which we work. It’s a process in which everyone wins,” he says.

All collected material is directed to the RECINAVE cooperative, located in the São Paulo neighborhood, in Navegantes, made up of 21 families. “The collected and recycled material is extremely important for the community. Here it becomes the livelihood of many families, providing employment and income for the members of these families. Furthermore, we help to reduce illegal landfills by disposing of waste correctly and responsibly”, explains the president of the association, Robson Rogério Luebke.

For the manager of Navegantes International Airport, Sadi Peixoto, the initiative is aligned with CCR Aeroportos' objectives of implementing solutions that minimize the environmental impact of its operations. “The partnership with the cooperative has been very productive. We are proud to be part of this collective effort towards a more sustainable future for generations to come,” says Sadi.
