Meet 5 aviation games for different platforms

War Thunder aviation games

Aviation games are increasingly accessible today, and it is possible to find several titles for multiple platforms. Console, PC and mobile are the top three, with several game options for both civil aviation and combat.

Today, we will bring five examples of aviation-themed games for these platforms. Check out!

Microsoft Flight Simulator

The most recent release of the iconic Flight Simulator game saga (let those who never went under the Rio-Niterói Bridge in the famous FSX throw the first stone). It is also called MSFS 2020 and was positively received by aviation lovers, mainly for the beautiful graphics, having even received three different awards.

The game features dozens of aircraft of different types, such as the Airbus A320, Cessna Grand Caravan and the beloved Queen of the Skies, the Boeing 747. In addition, it is possible to download aircraft for free or purchase through the game's marketplace.

Flight Simulator 2020 is available for computers with Windows operating system and Xbox Series X/S, however, it is not free: the basic version can be purchased for BRL 249,95 on the Microsoft.

War Thunder

War Thunder is a game available for free for PC (Mac, Windows and Linux), Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X. The game started out focused on aviation, with military aircraft from the Interwar Period, but today it already has supersonic fighters of 3rd generation, as well as a series of ships and tanks and armored vehicles from 10 different countries.

With periodic updates and promotions that always bring a certain number of vehicles from different eras, War Thunder is one of the most popular games among those that work with the aviation theme. The new patch, for example, will introduce the nation of Israel, with its classic Mirage III, Kfir and A-4. Even Argentine vehicles are already in the game.

DCS – Digital Combat Simulator

A game aimed at those passionate about military aviation, DCS brings together a series of fighter aircraft and helicopters with models faithfully developed, in addition to a wide range of weapons. All of this is accompanied by eye-popping graphics!

Despite being on the market for a few years, DCS has kept up with the evolution of game development. leaving nothing to be desired. But it's worth mentioning: it's a game with a heavier and more realistic simulation level. The player must, for example, learn to deal with the various systems of a fighter plane.

You can get the base game (DCS World) for free, which features the TP-51 Mustang and Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot aircraft, along with the Caucasus map.

However, if you want to have experience with fighters like the F-14 Tomcat, Su-27 Flanker, F-16 Fighting Falcon and others, you will have to shell out a “salty” amount. The game works through modules that are not included in the base game and must be purchased separately. In addition, a joystick is also recommended for playing.

Infinite Flight

The first on this list aimed at mobile platforms, Infinite Flight is available for Android and iOS tablets and smartphones. With beautiful graphics, the game brings a cool experience with a wide variety of aircraft of various types, civil and military, simulating in the palm of your hand some of the varied aspects of flight. It is possible to activate the aircraft and even perform instrument approaches and landings.

However, it is worth mentioning that some features are only unlocked with a paid subscription, including multiplayer, flight with real weather and several other airports and scenarios. However, it is possible to have a lot of fun with the free version!

Strike Fighters

Also aimed at mobile platforms, Strike Fighters is available for free for both Android and iOS. The game comes from Strike Fighters 2, another famous title among combat aviation games for PC.

Despite not being so beautiful in terms of graphics, it is great for passing the time and with simple and direct gameplay. The game itself brings a huge amount of fighter, attack and bombing planes, of different variants and different eras.

It is also possible to purchase aircraft from different countries, in addition to other game features such as editing missions and aircraft weaponry. One of the expansion packs includes fighter and attack aircraft from the Brazilian Air Force such as the F-5EM, AMX A-1M and F-39 Gripen

And there are five examples of aviation games for you to enjoy and, who knows, maybe even learn a little more about aircraft. Of course there are other titles, such as X-Plane, Il-2, the famous Ace Combat series and a number of other games for the three main platforms. Anyway, here's the suggestion from the editors of Portal Aeroflap!
