Guarulhos Airport handled 20,9 thousand tons of cargo in January 2024

Guarulhos Airport, managed by GRU Airport, recorded the movement of 20,9 thousand tons of cargo in January 2024. Of this total, 9,1 thousand tons represent imported items, with 151 tons of cargo processed through shipping warehouses international express (courier). Exports totaled 11,8 thousand tons handled, with 88 tons also processed in the same warehouses as international express shipments. These values NO include the volume of the Post Office operation, which is almost entirely processed through GRU AIRPORT. Domestic cargo, operated in third-party warehouses, is also not included here.

In January 2024, TECA GRU was responsible for 35% of all imports via air transport, while exports totaled 63% of national movement, consolidating the airport as the main logistics terminal in terms of international cargo movement in Brazil with 49% from the market.

Among the most transported products in January were items from the automotive segment with 23%, pharmaceuticals with 17%, machinery with 15% and electronics with 12% of the total. market share of nationalized cargo processed at the Cargo Terminal. It is also worth highlighting the express shipments segment, which benefits from GRU's extensive air network and dedicated operations to increase delivery speed.

Guarulhos Airport is recognized as one of the main air connection hubs in Latin America. In January, the terminal registered the presence of 37 airlines, 35 of which operated regularly, while two intended for cargo movement carried out only charter operations (Silkway and Modernair). Of the 35 airlines that operated regularly in GRU in January, 29 carried out exclusively international flights, and seven moved cargo using cargo aircraft. Additionally, six companies serve the domestic market, with two of them focused exclusively on cargo transportation (Total and Sideral), one dedicated to domestic passenger transportation (Passaredo) and three that operate in both the domestic and international markets (LATAM, Gol and Blue).

TECA GRU is the largest airport complex in the country, located in an area of ​​approximately 100 thousand m² bonded and which houses the largest refrigerated complex at airports in Brazil, with around 33.000 thousand m³ of import and export storage capacity. The 24 cold chambers reach all temperature ranges and serve all types of products. In addition, the space has 440 positions for refrigerated containers for imports.
