The first Azul flight arrives in Canoas with FAB with donations

Blue humanitarian flight FAB Brazilian Air Force Canoas Air Base

Azul carried out this Wednesday (8), the first humanitarian flight with donations to the city of Canoas (RS). The operation, carried out in partnership with the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), transported 1.550 kg of essential items to the city, including water, blankets, sanitary pads, diapers and saline solution. The mission was carried out aboard an Embraer E1 aircraft, a symbol of the national aeronautical industry.

Since the start of the climate catastrophe, the company has organized more than 500 input collection points. In two days, 180 tons of items were transported in the bellies of planes, and there are another 251 tons ready to be shipped in the coming days. Donations are sent to Viracopos airport, in Campinas, where this morning's flight to Canoas departed, and from there they are distributed to Rio Grande do Sul.

After taking off, the aircraft made a strategic stop at the São Paulo Air Base, in Guarulhos, to collect more items. Departing Guarulhos at 12pm, the plane arrived in Canoas at 15:10pm.

Fábio Campos, Institutional Director of Azul, acted as pilot in the action. “Each package delivered today carries a story and has a significant impact on the lives of people in Canoas. We are thrilled to be part of this chain of solidarity, which mobilized the entire country. Today's flight is just one part of the actions we are taking in response to this moment. We are proud to serve the Rio Grande do Sul community, who can always count on Azul,” he said.

Mobilization for Rio Grande do Sul

Azul continues to receive donations at the airports where it operates, as well as at Azul Viagens and Azul Cargo stores. According to Porto Alegre City Hall's Social Assistance, the most needed items are non-perishable food and basic food baskets, personal hygiene products such as toothpaste and brushes, as well as bed linen, towels and mineral water.

The materials collected will be transported to Rio Grande do Sul on company aircraft.

Last Tuesday, Azul announced the creation of a Humanitarian Social Fund to help Rio Grande do Sul, with the support of Itaú bank, which contributed a donation of R$5 million. The purpose of the fund is to finance the transportation of supplies and the carrying out of additional flights to transport essential professionals, crew members and impacted people.

Donations, always in kind and with no minimum value, can be made via bank transaction. The account details are: Banco Itaú, Ag. 0910, C/C 0099704-8, Associação Voar, CNPJ 35094152/0001-85.
