Airbus Helicopters announced today (02) the order from the Brunei Ministry of Defense for six H145M helicopters. The new aircraft will replace a retired model in 2022.

Bruno Even, CEO of the Airbus rotary wings, celebrated the new acquisition of the Asian country. “We are very honored by the selection of the H145M to support the expanded missions of the Royal Brunei Air Force. The H145M is well known for its high performance and versatility, and we are confident it will bring a step-change in operational readiness to Brunei.”

A military version of the H145 light utility vehicle (formerly EC145), the H145M is replacing the BO-105 helicopters, which have been out of service for more than two years. According to Airbus, the new model is multi-mission and offers a wide range of capabilities, including close air support and aerial observation.

Can be armed with missiles, rockets and machine guns, the H145M is equipped with the Helionix digital avionics suite which, together with innovative flight data management, includes a high-performance 4-axis autopilot, considerably reducing workload of the pilot during missions. Its particularly low acoustic footprint makes the H145M the quietest helicopter in its class.

The global H145 family fleet has accumulated more than seven million flight hours to date. With the purchase, Brunei becomes the seventh country to acquire the H145M, following Cyprus, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Serbia and Thailand.
