A CirrusJet left the runway this afternoon (21), at Angra dos Reis airport, on the coast of Rio de Janeiro, in a typical runway excursion event
We still have no details about what happened, however, fortunately there appear to have been no victims or injuries.
From the images received, apparently there was an attempt to land at threshold 10 of Angra dos Reis, and for some reason that is still unclear, the aircraft left the runway (runway excursion), close to apron 1, which is next to the opposite threshold. .
Also according to the flight tracking application, FlightRadar24, two CirrusJets (same model as the one in the accident) were identified, one coming from Patos de Minas and the other from the capital of São Paulo. Strangely, the two entered a final of 10, with the first entering the final after a turn made on the right and the other entering a more “direct” final.
At 14:27 pm local time, another CirrusJet (without registration) appears taking off towards Jundiaí.
Finally, other “jets” have already operated at the airport, such as a Phenom 300 at around 9am local time and two of the same model at around 10:30am.
According to the satellite image at the time, there was no relevant formation.
Also, at the time of publication of this news, there was no NOTAM reporting runway closure, which indicates that operations would continue normally.
Angra's live camera, as per this link, appears to be offline.
