A five-year-old golden retriever dog died while being transported by Gollog, a company dedicated to transporting GOL cargo, after a destination error.

The dog, named Joca, was in Guarulhos (GRU) and should have been transported to Sinop (OPS), in Mato Grosso, but ended up on a plane destined for Fortaleza Airport (FOR).

Second information from the G1 Portal, the owner consulted a veterinarian who granted a certificate indicating that the pet would survive a 2 and a half hour trip. Due to the error in destination, Joca stayed for around eight hours.

With the requested return to São Paulo, GOL states that it accompanied Joca throughout the journey, with his death occurring unexpectedly in São Paulo.

João Fantazzini, Joca's guardian, upon realizing that the dog had not landed in Sinop, decided to return to Guarulhos to receive the dog, which was already dead. The company was accused of not having provided due support to Joca and claims that it provided due care in the capital of Ceará.

"I arrived at the airport and a girl, who said she was a manager, came towards me. She said that Joca hadn't been well. The vet had certified a two and a half hour flight for him, but it was almost an eight hour flight“, said João Fantazzini to the G1 portal.

"They put water in a little thing that the dog has to run its tongue through to get water. A dog that size, weighing 47 kilos, you can't believe that. Then they put the dog back without any evaluation, without any veterinarian examining the animal.“, told G1 Marcia Martin, mother of João, Joca’s tutor.

“GOL deeply regrets what happened to the dog Joca and sympathizes with his owner’s pain. The Company informs that the dog Joca should have gone to Sinop (OPS), on flight 1480 on 22/04, from Guarulhos (GRU), however, due to an operational failure the animal was boarded on a flight to Fortaleza (FOR ).

As soon as the tutor arrived in Sinop, he was notified about what had happened and his choice was to return to Guarulhos (GRU) to meet Joca again.

The GOLLOG team in the capital of Ceará disembarked the Joca and took care of it until it boarded flight 1527 back to Guarulhos (GRU). During this period, records of Joca being accommodated back on the aircraft were sent to the guardian. Unfortunately, shortly after the flight landed at Guarulhos airport (GRU), coming from Fortaleza, we were surprised by the death of the animal.

The Company is offering all the necessary support to the tutor and the investigation of the details of what happened is being carried out with full priority by our team. We sympathize with the suffering of Joca's tutor. We understand his pain and are deeply sorry for the loss of his pet.”
