TV Cultura premieres second season of “Asas e Histórias” this Saturday (10/2)

TV Cultura program Wings and Stories

Debut on TV Culture a new season Wings and Stories, a series that shows the history of aviation from a cultural and technological point of view. The program, which will be twice as long in this new phase, following requests from the public, will be shown to Saturdays at 10:45 am, with re-presentation on Sundays, at 11am, from the day February 10.

With 26 episodes ten minutes each, Wings and Stories Each edition will bring an aircraft or helicopter of great relevance, whether for historical or technological reasons, or both. “The objective of the program is to bring people closer to Aviation, with its history, which has impacted humanity in the most diverse ways, since the pioneering flight of the 14-Bis by Brazilian Alberto Santos Dumont”, explains the aviation journalist and presenter of the program , Claudio Lucchesi.

The presenter also adds: “And even show that Aviation is in our lives even without going to an airport. It is even in our kitchens, in the microwave oven, whose technology has its roots in a military aviation issue in the Second World War. Or when purchasing online, which arrives within a week from another country, thanks to air transport.”

Premiere episode

In the first episode, this Saturday (10/2), the series features the attack jet AMX, manufactured by Embraer, a national company, and used by the Brazilian Air Force. Its project originated in Italy, with Aermacchi and Aeritalia, which were joined by Embraer, and brought to the Brazilian manufacturer and to our aviation a world of technologies that were then unprecedented, ranging from fully integrated on-board electronics to flight controls. digital, computer-assisted piloting flight.

The importance of the AMX was enormous, because Embraer not only participated in the development, and thus added these advanced technologies, but the plane itself was manufactured in Brazil, allowing us to “learn” how to mass produce such an advanced plane. A knowledge that has flourished and is the root of the latest generation technology present in Embraer's current aircraft – which make the Brazilian company the third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world.

In the second episode, which airs on February 17, the public gets to know the British fighter Bae Harrier – a jet fighter aircraft created in the middle of the Cold War and which is capable of taking off and landing like a helicopter, and thus can operate even without the runway of an airport or air base.

Used by several countries, in addition to the United Kingdom, such as the United States, Italy, Spain and India, the Harrier made world headlines during the Falklands War in 1982, when it was the main combat aircraft of the British forces sent to retake the islands, invaded and taken by the Argentine military government.

And there's more ...

Over the other 24 episodes, the public will learn about the civil jets that revolutionized passenger transport in Brazil and the rest of the world; executive jets, helicopters capable of operating from the Arctic to the Sahara Desert; and several other aircraft that marked the skies around the world!
