Video: Russia trains REVO and cannon fire with the Tu-95MS

Servicemen from the Long Range Aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces conducted in-flight refueling (REVO) training and the use of rear guns with the Tupolev Tu-95MS Bear-H strategic bomber in the Volga region.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, experienced pilots and young officers participated in the exercise, which also involved landings and takeoffs from different airfields. Check out.

The Tu-95 was refueled by an Il-78 Midas, a REVO version of the Il-76 Candid freighter, and at the end of the video the use of 23mm cannons can be seen. For self-defense, the Tu-95 has two GSh-23 double-barrel guns, guided by radar and operated by a tail gunner.

Older variants used two AM-23s, each with only one barrel. Armaments are mounted in a 9A-503M mobile turret, which can also be found on the Il-76 and Tu-22M3 Backfire supersonic bomber.

Currently, the Tu-95 is what Russia calls a “missile carrier”. As main armament, the bomber can carry Kh-22, Kh-55 and Kh-101 missiles.
