Recife Guararapes – Gilberto Freyre International Airport, managed by Aena Brasil, was among the top five in the world in 2021, considering medium-sized terminals, according to the survey The On-Time Performance Report, carried out by the consultancy Cirium – one of the most important in the airline industry. Within the same category, Recife obtained the highest score of all the Americas.

According to the report “2021 Winner – The Platinum Award Operational Excellence”, the Recife terminal was the best rated in the country (the only Brazilian among the top five, observing all categories), surpassing the mark of 90% punctuality of flights, taking into account take-offs and landings.

Two airports operated by Aena in Spain were also among the top five in the medium category: Menorca and Bilbao, in third and fourth place, respectively.

The punctuality of flights is used as an evaluation criterion because it is an indicator that also points to the operational capacity of the airport, the quality of the service provided and the efficiency in serving passengers and airlines.
