ANAC prohibits increase in commercial flights in Maceió and Recife

Recife Aena Airport Brazil Aeroportos Nordeste

The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) issued two ordinances prohibiting the inclusion of new flights to Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport, in Maceió (AL), and Gilberto Freyre/Guararapes International Airport, in Recife (PE), both managed by AENA Brazil under concession regime.

Ordinances No. 6168 and 6169 were published on Friday (15) in the Official Gazette of the Union, making the provisional measures public. Check below the ordinance that denies the increase in operations in Maceió.

Ordinance No. 6168, OF OCTOBER 15, 2021

Makes public the application of precautionary administrative measures prohibiting increased frequency of air operations to Zumbi do Palmares Airport / Maceió (AL) - (SBMO) (CIAD code:AL0001).

The CERTIFICATION AND OPERATIONAL SAFETY MANAGER in the exercise of the attributions conferred upon him by item d), of item II of art. 3 of Ordinance 3.901/SIA, of December 30, 2020, in view of the provisions of item 139.111(a)(1) of the Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulation - RBAC No. 139, Amendment No. 05, considering Law No. 7.565, of December 19, 1986, and considering what is contained in process No. 00058.036306/2020-91,

RESOLVES:

Art. 1º Make public the application of the following precautionary administrative measures to the Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport (SBMO), CIAD code: AL0001, in Maceió/AL.

I – Prohibition of increasing the weekly frequency of operations provided for in paragraph 139.1(a) of Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulation no. 139 – (RBAC 139), Amendment no. 05, limiting the operations governed by RBAC no. 121 and RBAC no. weekly frequencies recorded on October 129, 15, according to the public air transport service record, available on the ANAC website on the World Wide Web (electronic address: https://sistemas.anac.gov.br/sas/siros); and

II – Prohibition of increasing the weekly frequency of operations of aircraft with aerodrome reference code 4C.

Art. 2 The measure applied is provisional in nature, with no set period, and will be maintained until the aerodrome operator regularizes its situation regarding the fulfillment of the commitments assumed with regard to airport maintenance contemplated in the aerodrome operational certification process.

Art. 3 This Ordinance enters into force on the date of its publication.

Although none of the ordinances detail what are the regularizations that must be carried out at the airports, Aena Brasil informed in a note that actions were requested to revitalize the painting of horizontal signaling. Aena spoke through the note that can be seen below.

Aena Brasil informs that, in regular inspection, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) requested a series of actions, mainly related to the revitalization of the painting of horizontal signaling at Maceió and Recife Airports. This request does not affect the movement or security of the airports in any way, which continue to operate normally with all regular landings and departures. No airline complaints have been filed either. The revitalization of the painting has already started by Aena Brasil at both airports, and the work should be completed next week, when the provisional ordinances should be suspended.
