PF seizes suitcase with 79 cell phones at Recife Airport

The Federal Police, with the support of the Federal Revenue Service, seized this past Monday (August 23) a suitcase containing around 08 cell phones without proper tax documentation. The action took place at Guararapes/Gilberto Freyre International Airport.

The bag was found during routine inspection on a domestic flight from Goiânia-GO. Upon undergoing a prior interview, the suspect began to get nervous and contradicted the contents of the luggage, as well as the reasons for his trip.

Due to the inaccuracy of his answers, his suitcase was opened and, inside, cell phones were found. The value of the cargo was estimated by the Federal Revenue Service, after drawing up the Asset Retention Term, at US$ 32, approximately R$ 172.

After the discovery of the goods, the Federal Revenue drew up the Term of Withholding of Goods and, as tax documents for the products had not been presented, the traveler was given a deadline to present the defense and prove the legal entry of the goods, under penalty of forfeiture of goods. all the stuff.

The suspect, after the tax procedure, was released. If he does not prove the regular payment of taxes on goods, he may suffer tax sanctions and be indicted for the crime of embezzlement, with penalties ranging from 1 to 4 years of imprisonment.
