As of this Wednesday (24), GOL suspended its dog transport service for 30 days, the decision includes the services Dog&Cat + Espaço and GOLLOG Animals.

The suspension comes after the death of the golden retriever Joca, who, due to an operational error by the company, ended up going to the wrong destination. According to GOL, the decision to suspend services will allow the company to dedicate itself to investigative procedures, so that the process can be concluded.

Joca, who was five years old, died after being sent to Fortaleza (FOR) instead of Sinop (OPS), returning to Guarulhos (GRU), the place of his death.

For those who purchased animal transport services between April 24th and May 23rd, they will be able to cancel the service free of charge, with a full refund including the value of their ticket (in the case of Dog&Cat + Espaço). There is also the possibility of postponing the trip, free of charge, after May 23rd until December 31st, 2024.

Finally, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) initiated administrative proceedings to determine the reasons that led to the death of the dog Joca on flight G3 1527 between Fortaleza Airport (CE) and Guarulhos (SP). The process was opened after a request for information from the airline by the Agency and a meeting between the Agency's CEO, Tiago Pereira, and the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.
