Recife/Guararapes – Gilberto Freyre International Airport, managed by Aena Brasil, is the 5th largest in terms of number of departures and arrivals in the country, according to data released by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).

The terminal closed the first quarter of 2021 with 6,09% of Brazilian air movement, and rose three positions compared to the same period of 2020.

From January to March this year, 1,7 million passengers passed through the airport in the capital of Pernambuco. In the Landings and Takeoffs indicator, the equipment is also in 5th place, recording 15,6 operations in the first three months of 2021.

In terms of loads, the Recife Airport, which has been an important logistical center for receiving and sending inputs to fight the pandemic, is in 4th place, with a record of 15 thousand tons in the aforementioned period.

“These numbers are encouraging and reflect our efforts to add quality and safety to our operations. We are a team of collaborators committed to providing passengers with the best possible experience, carrying the Aena standard”, points out the director of Recife International Airport, Diego Moretti.

Since last year, as soon as the pandemic was announced, the terminal began to adopt strict security protocols against the spread of the coronavirus.

At the end of 2020, the equipment received the Turismo Seguro Seal, designed by the Government of the State of Pernambuco, and Safe Travel, from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), in recognition of the measures adopted.
