The Cargo Terminal (TECA) at Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas (SP), yesterday afternoon received part of the equipment that will be used in the singer Madonna's show, scheduled to take place on May 04th at Copacabana Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, as part of its “Celebration Tour”.

Three closed pallets were unloaded at the Cargo Terminal, weighing a total of 5.419 kg. The rest of the equipment for the show should go directly to Rio de Janeiro. The volumes unloaded in Viracopos should continue tomorrow, via land, to the capital of Rio.

The equipment was transported on a Boeing 747-400, which took off from Miami (USA). The airport has a team experienced in agile and efficient processing of special cargo. Event material is kept in a controlled and secure area, with an electronic surveillance system and staff 24 hours a day.

The arrival of the equipment consolidates the Viracopos Cargo Terminal as one of the main entry points for equipment for major international events taking place in Brazil. The Cargo Terminal has the logistics expertise to process large volumes of cargo for international mega events.

On April 21st, for example, the sound and lighting equipment of some bands that performed at Lollapalooza 2024, in São Paulo (SP), also arrived at Viracopos. On the occasion, there were four cargo flights that brought the equipment of at least 14 bands that will perform at the festival, including Blink 182 and The Offspring, Jungle, Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Limp Bizkit, 30 Seconds to Mars, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Hozier, SZA, Sam Smith, Phoenix, Nothing but Thieves, Omar Apollo and Greta Van Fleet.

In 2023, TECA de Viracopos also received band equipment for the same event. On the occasion, volumes from the bands Billie Eilish, Twenty One Pilots, Drake, Lil Nas X, Rosalia, Tame Impala, Tove Lo, Modest Mouse, among other artists, arrived.

For example, concert equipment from the bands Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, U2, Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5, Sam Smith, Coldplay, Elton John and Justin Bieber, as well as festivals such as Rock in Rio and SP-TRIP.

The Viracopos Cargo Terminal (TECA) is one of the most important and busiest in Brazil and is the largest in terms of cargo imports in the country.

In addition to having a large and modern structure for moving, storing and releasing cargo, it is responsible for receiving around 1/3 of all air cargo imported into Brazil by air.

Viracopos has also been the official airport of the Formula 1 Brazilian GP for 22 consecutive editions. In 2023, the Cargo Terminal again received the cargo aircraft that brought the cars and all the material from the teams that competed in the Interlagos race.
