Abaeté Linhas Aéreas, a reference in the regional aviation sector, is committed to shaping the future of the airline sector. The company has sought to explore new business opportunities, investing in private aerodromes, and developing a structured and accessible air network, offering quality services to the most diverse destinations.

Seeking to leverage a segment that goes far beyond tourism, the public and private sectors have also shown interest in investing in regional aviation. Data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) show that, in 2023, the public sector invested around R$187 million and the private sector approximately R$1,2 billion. For the year 2024, the forecast is that these values could double, reaching the mark of R$480 million and R$2,6 billion, respectively.

“Regional aviation in Brazil faces several obstacles. However, the numbers released above reveal enormous potential for growth”, highlights Héctor Hamada, CEO of Abaeté. “It is essential to develop routes and invest in new aircraft to meet the growing demand for air transport in regions like Bahia. Furthermore, I highlight the need for tax incentives and financing to boost the sector”, he adds.

From a career marked by challenges and achievements, Hamada brought to the company his vast experience in different institutions, including stints at General Motors (GM) and IBM. His strategic vision and dedication have been instrumental in driving the company's growth and innovation.

With more than 45 years of history, Abaeté is committed to consolidating its presence in Bahia, reinforcing its commitment to regional aviation. To achieve this objective, it began a restructuring process that has already resulted in an increase of 65% in the team, transport of more than 15 thousand passengers, opening of new destinations – such as direct flights from Salvador to Boipeba, an island in the municipality of Cairu – contracting new systems and ISSA recertification, which proves the high standard of performance in operational safety.

Perspectives for regional aviation

Brazilian regional aviation is developing and there is no shortage of demand. In regions like Bahia, for example, the size and diversity justify the existence of a more structured, accessible and quality segment. Despite the importance and expansion scenario, the CEO highlights that there is a lack of investment, as the sector still directs more resources to domestic and international lines.

“Post-pandemic, we began to see greater interest from large airlines, but there are important obstacles to be resolved, such as the large gap in aircraft models intended for regional aviation. The lack of financing sources in new intermediary models also negatively impacts growth. Another factor is dumping (sales at prices below the cost of production) carried out by some companies”, he points out.

In an attempt to contribute to change, in addition to seeing a promising future, the Bahian airline is determined to play a fundamental role in this scenario. With investments in the areas of infrastructure, technology and human capital, it aims to expand its operations and offer innovative solutions to market needs, such as strengthening domestic tourism.

Hamada also reinforces its commitment to operational excellence and passenger safety. Member of ALTA (Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association) and ABEAR (Brazilian Association of Airlines), Abaeté stands out for its ISSA certification – an assessment internationally recognized and accepted as a standard of quality and operational safety in the airline industry. civil Aviation. “Our priority is to guarantee a differentiated travel experience for all our customers. We are constantly improving our processes and procedures to meet the highest quality and safety standards,” he concluded.
