The expansion and modernization work at Recife Airport began this week, through the Aena Brasil, responsible for the airport concession.

The works must include bathrooms, air conditioning systems, accessibility and signage. In all, there will be three investment blocks, the second of which, in the operations area, is expected to be delivered by June 2023.

The works of the first phase will be completed by May of this year. The “small” changes could give the terminal a new face, which has been asking for a visual revitalization of its interior for some time.

“The works aim to provide more comfort and improve the quality of service to passengers. We apologize for the initial inconvenience, but at the end of the process, we will be able to offer a better terminal for our users”, said Diego Moretti, director of Recife International Airport.

Previously, the works were delayed due to the restrictions of the pandemic, in 2020.

Recife Airport stands out for being one of the main hubs of Azul, in addition to receiving several cargo flights during the week, being also one of the main ones in the northeast in this sense.

“Now we have started to resume operations and we already have the investment dates. This first block of reforms will be for requalification of bathrooms, improvement in air conditioning, signaling and other immediate actions. For the six airports, the amount will be around BRL 120 million”, commented the president of Aena Brasil, Santiago Yus.
