Between the 05th and 15th of this month, the Gordo (1st/1st GT), Zeus (1st GTT) and PARA-SAR (EAS) squadrons of Brazilian air force participated in Exercise Storm Flag, in the southern United States. FAB transport units used the freighter Embraer KC-390 Millennium in the activity that promotes interoperability with the North American armed forces.

Held in Alexandria (Louisiana), the training contributed to the improvement of Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) related to the use of transport aviation in conflict environments, as well as strengthening the partnership between the Brazilian and US air forces.

“Storm Flag provided an opportunity to enhance the operational capabilities of the KC-390 Millennium and project the aircraft onto the world stage. Experience in joint exercises is essential to fully acquire the aircraft’s operational potential and evolve the doctrine for its safe use,” said Zeus Squadron Commander and Exercise participant, Lieutenant-Colonel Aviator Bruno Américo Pereira.

In images released by the FAB, the KC-390 is seen carrying United States troops and military equipment, including HMMWV vehicles and a 119 mm M105 howitzer.

According to Aeronautics, participation in the Storm Flag exercise reinforced Brazil's commitment to international cooperation and the ability of its Armed Forces to act in different situations and environments, contributing to regional and global security, defense and stability.
