Scoot, a low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), today began commercial flights with its new fleet of E190-E2 jets. The first aircraft, called Explorer 3.0, took off from Changi Airport (Singapore) bound for Krabi (Thailand).
“We want to congratulate Scoot on this important moment”, says Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer at Embraer Commercial Aviation. “Seeing the E2, a modern and efficient jet, flying in the skies of Singapore and Southeast Asia is a source of great pride. We would like to thank everyone involved who worked tirelessly to make this achievement a reality.”
Holmes represented Embraer at the Scoot E190-E2 launch event at Changi Airport, shortly before the jet's first commercial flight took off.
The operation of Explorer 3.0 will increase the frequency of flights to Krabi and Hat Yai, Thailand, from seven to ten weekly flights in both destinations.
Scoot's second E190-E2 arrived in Singapore on April 29 and will also begin service soon.
