The Brazilian Association of Airlines (ABEAR) informs that GOL, LATAM and VOEPASS have mobilized to transport free donations to the population affected by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. A GOL plane took off today (6) at 16:15 pm from Congonhas Airport ( SP) towards Caxias do Sul (RS), with 6 tons of materials such as blankets, mattresses, clothes and water, and landed at around 18 pm. The company, through the GOL Institute, also joined the Central Única das Favelas (CUFA) and GOLLOG will receive donations from CUFA and the population in general. LATAM entered into a partnership with Movimento União BR, which will collect items such as non-perishable food, clothing, hygiene and cleaning items from other companies and transport these donations free of charge. LATAM is also collecting voluntary donations from its employees in all its offices and at 52 airports in the country. VOEPASS, in turn, will transport free donations that will be collected in Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of São Paulo, where it is headquartered, to the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The company is accepting donations until 12 noon tomorrow (7) at the VOEPASS Hangar, located on Avenida Thomaz Alberto Whately, lot 16, in Jardim Aeroporto, located in the Hangares Sector. It will be an exclusive flight for the company, which on some routes, such as the one connecting the cities of Santa Maria (RS) and Canoas (RS), will allow Civil Defense agents and firefighters, among other professionals, to board for free.
GOL and LATAM also participate in a campaign by the tour operator CVC that will collect, between now and May 12th, donations in its more than 1 thousand stores spread across the country. The donated material, such as clothes, shoes, sheets, blankets and towels will be transported free of charge by both airlines.
