Emirates

Emirates will bring new travel opportunities, more choice and greater convenience to customers traveling to and from South Africa, with additional services to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

The increase in flights is part of the airline's ongoing commitment to support South Africa's economic and tourism recovery by increasing connectivity at all airports it operates.

The airline's latest flight expansion also reaffirms South Africa's strategic importance in its network, prioritizing service expansion and capacity rebuilding to further promote growth potential.

The airline will expand scheduled flights to and from Johannesburg to three daily flights from 1 March 2023. Cape Town will have two daily flights from 1 February 2023.

Emirates will also add two more flights to Durban, making it a daily service from 1 December 2022. The reintroduction of the new flights between Dubai and the three cities in South Africa will bring the number of scheduled flights to 42 weekly flights from Emirates to that country.

As part of its commitment to support tourism recovery work in South Africa, Emirates and the South African Tourism Board signed a pre-agreement (MoU) earlier this year to jointly promote tourism and increase number of visitors to South Africa across the airline's network of more than 130 passenger flight destinations.

The additional services to the three South African destinations will also provide customers with more connecting options to a range of domestic and regional cities in South Africa via Emirates' codeshare and interline partners, including South African Airways, Airlink, FlySafair and Cemair. These exclusive connections are not offered by any other airline.

The airline continues to raise the bar on the premium experience for its South African customers with a selection of local wines, including Ken Forrester, Porseleinberg, Klein Constantia, Waterkloof, Boekenhoutskloof, among others. In addition, guests are treated to authentic South African dishes and flavors, with a variety of local cheeses and Rooibos-inspired cuisine.

As well as increasing much-needed seating capacity inside and outside South Africa, the new Emirates flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban will together increase cargo carrying capacity, promoting more import and export opportunities for local businesses. , helping transport critical cargo and exports including seafood, fruits and vegetables, fresh and frozen meats, wine, pharmaceuticals and gold between the UAE, South Africa and other connections destinations.
