FAB identifies suspicious aircraft in Paraná

FAB Suspicious Aircraft PAraná

In the context of Operation Ágata Conjunta Sul, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) identified, around 8 am (Brasília time) this Tuesday (04/07), in the western region of the state of Paraná, a small aircraft, model PA-28, which entered Brazilian airspace without authorization and flight plan. Air defense aircraft A-29 Super Tucano and FAB radar plane E-99 were used to monitor the plane. 

Air defense pilots followed the protocol for policing measures in Brazilian airspace. At that time, the aircraft was classified as suspicious, as provided for in Decree 5.144, of July 16, 2004.

Afterwards, the pilot of the suspected aircraft landed on a runway in the city of Tuneiras do Oeste (PR). Soon after, the plane was set on fire by the pilot himself, who fled the scene before the arrival of police officers. The entire operation was carried out in coordination with the Federal Police, with support from the Military Police of Paraná.

Operation South Joint Agate

Operation Ágata Joint South is the biggest action to combat cross-border crimes in 2023. On the ground, since July 1st, the Operation has been launched in the southern region of Brazil – Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

The action is an interagency work, coordinated by the Ministry of Defense, and with the participation of the Brazilian Air Force, the Brazilian Navy, the Brazilian Army, the Federal Police, the Federal Highway Police, the Federal Revenue Service, ABIN, IBAMA, from Anvisa, ICMBio, ANATEL, Public Security Secretariats/Military Police/Civil Police/Military Fire Brigade and Agriculture Secretariats of the States of the Southern Region of the Country, as well as other federal, state and municipal inspection bodies .

The objective of the initiative is to carry out preventive and repressive actions, at the land and sea borders, against cross-border and environmental crimes in coordination with federal and state security and inspection bodies.
